Fake Tim Hortons $200 gift card quiz that asks you to share it on social media

Pages using the Tim Hortons name and logo say "Congratulations!" and offer "A free gift card worth $200" for answering a four-question quiz. One version was a Labor Day gift and another was an anniversary gift. The Labor Day banner thanks "CANADA'S WORKERS" and tells you to share the promotion on social media with your friends to get a $200 Tim Hortons gift card. A Scam Archive alert published on September 7, 2026 described a version that asked visitors to share the page with several groups or friends through Messenger or WhatsApp before they could continue. Below the quiz, a list of comments shows people saying they already won. At least two web addresses carried the quiz. They were reported between September 7 and September 24, 2026, and neither is Tim Hortons' own website.

What’s different in this version

These traits set this message apart from the usual pattern.

  1. The brand used is Tim Hortons, a coffee and restaurant chain. The Labor Day banner is aimed at Canada ("THANK YOU CANADA'S WORKERS!") and the prize is a $200 gift card.

  2. Sharing is written into the banner: "Share this promotion on your favourite Canadian social media with your friends and get a $200 TIM HORTONS GIFT CARD", with Facebook, Instagram, X, TikTok and LinkedIn icons.

  3. A Scam Archive alert published on September 7, 2026 described a version that said the visitor had won a $200 gift card and had to share with multiple groups or friends through Messenger or WhatsApp before continuing. Links shown for recipients used assaitssapp[.]com and assaibonus[.]com.

  4. The occasion changed over time: Labor Day in early September, then an "Anniversary Gift" on the same address later in the month.

  5. The page shows the date you open it as the promotion date. The copy saved on September 7 showed 9/7/2026 and a copy saved on September 23 showed 9/23/2026.

  6. The fake comments use the same names and the same words as the Jollibee version in this family.

How this scam works

    Step 1: You receive or open a page that uses a well-known brand name and says you have won a prize.

    Step 2: The page asks you to share it on social media or with multiple groups or friends through messaging apps before you can claim the prize.

    Step 3: The shared link may use an unrelated web address and take recipients through another prize or reward page.

  4. 4

    Step 4: The page may later ask for personal details, payment information, or additional actions to release the supposed prize.

✓ Do this

  • Close the page and verify promotions through the brand's official website or app, opened independently.
  • Warn anyone you may have sent the link to so they do not open it or share it further.
  • Report the message or page through the service where you received it, then delete it.
  • If you entered information or payment details, contact your bank or card provider and change any reused password through the official service.

✗ Avoid this

  • Do not share the page with groups, friends, or family to unlock a prize.
  • Do not enter personal, account, or payment information on an unfamiliar prize page.
  • Do not trust a brand logo, countdown, comments, or claims that other people already received the reward.
  • Do not use links from the page to verify the promotion; find the official brand website yourself.
