This is a version of Share-to-Unlock Prize Scam in Lottery / Prize.

Fake ANC R300 campaign giveaway that asks for your bank account number

A page using the name and logo of the African National Congress (ANC), a South African political party, says the party is "giving out Instant free R300 Rand as part of 2026 campaign for all South Africans". A counter claims 4548 South Africans have already received their R300. The page asks for your bank name and account number, then your name, then says the payment is pending until you complete a "Human verification process". The saved page analysis also recorded a step that asks you to share the page with five WhatsApp groups or 15 friends to unlock the payment. The page was reported from South Africa on October 27, 2026, at shrlnk[.]site, a short-link address that has nothing to do with the ANC.

What’s different in this version

These traits set this message apart from the usual pattern.

  1. This version uses a political party, the ANC, instead of a shop or a government agency. The offer is a flat R300 cash payment "for all South Africans", not a gift card or voucher.

  2. There is no quiz. The page goes straight to a form that asks for your bank name and account number, then your name.

  3. After the form, the page says your R300 is pending until you finish a "Human verification process", a locker step that sends visitors on to other pages.

  4. The address shrlnk[.]site was used between August and October 2026 for fake recruitment pages using the names of Ghana government agencies and energy and mining companies. This is the first time it was seen with a cash giveaway.

  5. The domain was 103 days old when reported (registered July 15, 2026) and redirected once to a GitHub Pages address.

How this scam works

  1. 1

Step 1: You receive or open a page that uses a well-known brand name and says you have won a prize.

  2. 2

Step 2: The page asks you to share it on social media or with multiple groups or friends through messaging apps before you can claim the prize.

  3. 3

Step 3: The shared link may use an unrelated web address and take recipients through another prize or reward page.

  4. 4

Step 4: The page may later ask for personal details, payment information, or additional actions to release the supposed prize.

✓ Do this

  • Close the page and verify promotions through the brand's official website or app, opened independently.
  • Warn anyone you may have sent the link to so they do not open it or share it further.
  • Report the message or page through the service where you received it, then delete it.
  • If you entered information or payment details, contact your bank or card provider and change any reused password through the official service.

✗ Avoid this

  • Do not share the page with groups, friends, or family to unlock a prize.
  • Do not enter personal, account, or payment information on an unfamiliar prize page.
  • Do not trust a brand logo, countdown, comments, or claims that other people already received the reward.
  • Do not use links from the page to verify the promotion; find the official brand website yourself.
