Fake Federal Government of Nigeria ₦50,000 cash transfer page that asks for your bank account and WhatsApp shares

A page at billnova[.]online/fg50k uses the Nigerian coat of arms and a "Federal Government of Nigeria" banner to announce a "New Cash Transfer Programme" of ₦50,000 a month for households, under a scheme it calls the "National Emergency Relief and Stabilisation Intervention (NERSI)". It says "NO BVN REQUIRED, INSTANT N50K", shows a counter of Nigerians who have supposedly received the money, and asks for your bank name and account number. The next steps ask for your name and phone number, tell you to share the page with five WhatsApp groups or 15 friends, and then ask for a "human verification". It was first observed in Nigeria on November 4, 2026, and was still live on November 5, 2026. The page is not a Nigerian government website.

What’s different in this version

These traits set this message apart from the usual pattern.

  1. The page uses the Nigerian coat of arms and a "Federal Government of Nigeria" banner instead of a party or politician, and names a relief scheme, "NERSI", to sound official.

  2. It asks for your bank name and account number on the first screen, before any sharing step, and later for your name and phone number.

  3. It says "NO BVN REQUIRED" so people do not stop to wonder why a bank payout needs no identity check.

  4. To "claim" the money you must share the page with five WhatsApp groups or 15 friends and then pass a "human verification" step, which is how these pages spread and earn money for the operator.

  5. A deadline ("Ending 7th November"), a rising counter of people paid, and a fake comment thread with like and share counts make it look popular and urgent. The counter is not fixed: the same page showed 4548 in its screenshot and 5407 in its saved code.

  6. The address billnova[.]online forwards to a Blogger page, fg-50k-cash-transfer.blogspot[.]com. The Research Inbox analysis found the same Meta tracking pixel on two other giveaway pages, gifmi[.]site and shrlnk[.]site.

  7. The sharing, verification and final pages were not captured as images. Where the "human verification" step leads, and what happens to the bank details, was not recorded. How the link reached people was also not recorded.

✓ Do this

  • Close the page and verify promotions through the brand's official website or app, opened independently.
  • Warn anyone you may have sent the link to so they do not open it or share it further.
  • Report the message or page through the service where you received it, then delete it.
  • If you entered information or payment details, contact your bank or card provider and change any reused password through the official service.

  • Do not share the page with groups, friends, or family to unlock a prize.
  • Do not enter personal, account, or payment information on an unfamiliar prize page.
  • Do not trust a brand logo, countdown, comments, or claims that other people already received the reward.
