Fake Airtel Diwali gift page promising ₹2,000 cash to everyone

A Hindi-language page with the Airtel name and logo wishes visitors a happy Diwali and says a ₹2,000 cash reward is available for everyone. It shows a festive banner with a "अभी पाएं" (get it now) button, a like counter and a list of comments from people who say the money reached their account and that they shared the page in all their WhatsApp groups. It was first observed in India on October 31, 2026, on short, random-looking .buzz addresses such as mgojd[.]buzz, wmbry[.]buzz and qcoph[.]buzz, none of which belong to Airtel. The same page code was used in August 2026 for a Pakistan Independence Day "cash gift" on other .buzz and .xyz addresses.

What’s different in this version

These traits set this message apart from the usual pattern.

  1. The page uses the Airtel name, logo and a Diwali theme. The page title reads "Airtel - दिवाली का तोहफ़ा!" (Airtel, a Diwali gift) and the banner says "शुभ दीपावली ₹2,000 सभी के लिए" (Happy Diwali, ₹2,000 for everyone).

  2. It was observed on at least three different addresses on the same day, mgojd[.]buzz, wmbry[.]buzz and qcoph[.]buzz. All are short, random-looking .buzz names, and all four sightings were in India.

  3. The page shows made-up social proof: a like counter ("134K", "23K Likes · 12K Comments") and comments posted minutes apart thanking Airtel for the money. One comment says the writer shared the page in all of their WhatsApp groups and urges others to claim quickly.

  4. The reported link carried a tag that points to WhatsApp as the source (s=wa), which matches the comments that push sharing in WhatsApp groups.

  5. The Research Inbox links mgojd[.]buzz to five addresses used on August 14, 2026, for a "Rs. 13,000 cash gift" tied to Pakistan Independence Day, on other short .buzz and .xyz names. They share the same page code. The wmbry[.]buzz and qcoph[.]buzz reports carry the same Airtel page title.

  6. The saved page includes share and app sections that were hidden when it was captured, so the exact step that asks visitors to share, and anything asked for after that, was not recorded.

How this scam works

  1. 1

Step 1: You receive or open a page that uses a well-known brand name and says you have won a prize.

  2. 2

Step 2: The page asks you to share it on social media or with multiple groups or friends through messaging apps before you can claim the prize.

  3. 3

Step 3: The shared link may use an unrelated web address and take recipients through another prize or reward page.

  4. 4

Step 4: The page may later ask for personal details, payment information, or additional actions to release the supposed prize.

✓ Do this

  • Close the page and verify promotions through the brand's official website or app, opened independently.
  • Warn anyone you may have sent the link to so they do not open it or share it further.
  • Report the message or page through the service where you received it, then delete it.
  • If you entered information or payment details, contact your bank or card provider and change any reused password through the official service.

✗ Avoid this

  • Do not share the page with groups, friends, or family to unlock a prize.
  • Do not enter personal, account, or payment information on an unfamiliar prize page.
  • Do not trust a brand logo, countdown, comments, or claims that other people already received the reward.
  • Do not use links from the page to verify the promotion; find the official brand website yourself.
