This is a version of Fake Branded Online Store Scam in Marketplace / Classifieds.

Fake Costco Canada shop selling appliances and furniture for around CA$50

A shop at tgfullcj[.]shop copies the Costco Wholesale website, with the Costco logo, blue menu bar, a "Member-Only Savings" flyer and "Online Only Finds" banners, and says it delivers across Canada. It is not run by Costco. Large appliances, furniture and tools are mostly priced between about CA$40 and CA$55, next to crossed-out prices up to six times higher. Examples include an LG 27 inch gas dryer for CA$44.95 and a ZLINE professional gas range for CA$48.27. The shop offers an account login, a cart, an email sign-up and a "Trusted Store, Certified Secure" badge.

What’s different in this version

These traits set this message apart from the usual pattern.

  1. The brand copied is Costco Wholesale, aimed at shoppers in Canada. The page title, site name and search keywords all say Costco, and it even loads fonts from Costco's own servers, but the shop sits on tgfullcj[.]shop, an address with no link to Costco.

  2. Most items are priced between about CA$40 and CA$55, whatever they are: an LG 27 inch gas dryer for CA$44.95 (was CA$125.49), a Dri-Eaz Sahara Pro X4 Turbodryer for CA$45.85, a ZLINE professional gas range for CA$48.27, a Modrest Taylor 102 inch solid wood dining table for CA$49.80 and a 750W folding electric bike for CA$51.62.

  3. The listings show higher crossed-out "was" prices beside the advertised prices. These figures were not checked against independent market prices.

  4. One listed product title reads "Peakora Portable Countertop Dishwasher, 3-in-1 Function Flip-Top Dishwasher, 800w Mini Dishwasher for Small Households Apartments Boats". The source of the product listings was not established.

  5. The banner flyer says "Savings valid Oct. 19 - Nov. 15, 2026".

  6. The page carries a TikTok advertising tag. This does not establish that the link was distributed through TikTok ads. The delivery channel is unknown, and the checkout and payment pages were not captured.

How this scam works

  1. 1

Step 1: A shop appears at an address that carries a familiar retailer's name without being that retailer's website. The name is often placed to the left of the real address, so it reads correctly at a glance.

  2. 2

Step 2: The page copies the retailer's wordmark, colours and footer closely enough to pass a glance, including a copyright line in the real company's name.

  3. 3

Step 3: The goods on sale do not match the retailer: a clothing brand's shop offering designer handbags, phones, drones or car parts, with product text scraped from wholesale listings.

  4. 4

Step 4: The site behaves like a normal shop. It offers accounts, a basket, orders and a customer service chat, which is what makes a shopper willing to type things into it.

  5. 5

Step 5: Anything entered goes to whoever runs the site rather than to the retailer, because the retailer has nothing to do with it.

✓ Do this

  • Read the web address from the right. The real site is the last part before the first single slash, and a brand name in front of it is just a word somebody chose.
  • Go to the shop the way you normally would, through its own app or by typing its address yourself, and see whether the same offer exists there.
  • If you have already paid, tell your bank or card provider straight away and ask about a chargeback.
  • If you reused a password on the fake shop, change it everywhere else you use it, from a device you trust.

✗ Avoid this

  • Do not judge a shop by whether it looks right, or by a safety checker finding nothing wrong. A copy can be good enough to pass both.
  • Do not assume a padlock or 'https' means a shop is genuine. It only means the connection is private, not that the shop is.
  • Do not enter a card, an address or a password on a shop you reached from a link, before you have checked the address.
  • Do not trust a brand's logo, a copyright line, or a long list of well-known names on the page. All of those are copied in a few minutes.
