This is a version of Fake Online Vote Verification Scam in Impersonation / Social Media.

Fake Instagram fashion contest vote page that asks for your Instagram password and login code

A message says the sender is "contesting for fashion contest" and asks you to "pls vote now" through a link. The link opens a page titled "Beauty contest fashion" with an Instagram logo, the words "nominating media" and a single button, "Continue with Instagram", to "vote contestant platform". The page code holds a hidden Instagram login form, a hidden box for a login code and a hidden "failed" screen, and the Research Inbox analysis found it sends what you type to a Telegram bot. It was first observed in India on November 3, 2026, at vote00.github[.]io, a free GitHub Pages address that does not belong to Instagram or Meta.

What’s different in this version

These traits set this message apart from the usual pattern.

  1. The vote is for an adult fashion or beauty contest, not a child's competition. The message is written as if from someone you know who is taking part, with an apology for bothering you.

  2. The page shows only an Instagram logo and a "Continue with Instagram" button. The fake login form, the box for the login code and a "failed" screen are already in the page code, hidden until you click.

  3. Asking for the login code as well as the password lets the people behind the page get past two-step sign-in and take over the Instagram account, which can then be used to send the same vote message to your followers.

  4. The Research Inbox analysis found the page sends the details to a Telegram bot and looks up the visitor's IP address. It matched the page to a known kit that uses Telegram to collect stolen logins.

  5. The page title is written in decorative double-struck letters, which can slip past filters looking for plain words.

  6. The page is on vote00.github[.]io, a free GitHub Pages address. How the message reached the person who found it was not recorded.

How this scam works

  1. 1

Step 1: You get or open a link asking you to vote for a finalist in a contest run by a school, club or other organizer.

  2. 2

Step 2: The page shows the finalists, a running vote count and a very small gap between them, so it feels like your vote decides the result.

  3. 3

Step 3: When you choose a finalist, the page says your vote must be verified before it counts.

  4. 4

Step 4: The page's code points to a separate sign-in step for this verification. Anything you enter there would go to the people running the page, not to the school or organizer.

  5. 5

Step 5: The same page appears on many new web addresses, often with names that have nothing to do with the organizer.

✓ Do this

  • Check the contest on the organizer's official website or social media account. Find it yourself instead of using the link.
  • If a friend sent you the link, ask them by a separate call or message whether they really sent it.
  • Report the link on the platform or app where you received it.
  • If you already signed in, entered a phone number or typed a code on such a page, change your password on the real service and turn on two-step verification.

✗ Avoid this

  • Do not sign in, enter your phone number or type a code to verify a vote.
  • Do not trust a page because it shows photos of children, a school name or a close vote count.
  • Do not forward the vote link to friends or groups.
