The Scam Archive is powered by the Cybersecurity Reach Foundation, a cybersecurity awareness nonprofit.

1) Acceptance of these terms

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of The Scam Archive website and content (collectively, the “Service”). By viewing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2) Educational use only — not professional advice

The Service provides educational examples and explanations to help people recognize common scam patterns. It does not provide legal, financial, security, or other professional advice. Use your judgment and verify with official sources.

3) Permitted use

You may use the Service for personal, educational, research, and nonprofit purposes. You agree to:

  • Respect applicable laws and the rights of others.
  • Cite the Scam Archive when sharing excerpts or screenshots.
  • Avoid high-volume scraping, automated collection, or re-publishing at scale without written permission.
  • Never use any content here to harass, dox, spam, or facilitate fraud.

4) Reports and other submissions

When you submit a report (e.g., screenshots, sender email, domain, phone number, description), you represent that:

  • You have the right to share the material and it does not violate the law or others’ rights.
  • You will remove or redact sensitive personal data (e.g., IDs, passwords, full account numbers).
  • Your submission is truthful to the best of your knowledge and sent in good faith.

By submitting, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, reproduce, edit for clarity/safety, publish, and create derivative works from your submission for educational and research purposes, including to share non-sensitive indicators (e.g., sender domains, emails, phone numbers). We may edit, refuse, or remove content at our discretion.

5) Prohibited conduct

  • Submitting sensitive personal data (IDs, passwords, bank/card numbers, full addresses) or others’ private information without consent.
  • Impersonating others or misrepresenting your affiliation.
  • Infringing copyrights, trademarks, or other rights.
  • Attempting to bypass security, rate limits, or access non-public areas.
  • Using the Service to create or amplify fraud, spam, harassment, or scams.
  • Automated scraping at a rate that harms performance or availability.

6) Intellectual property

The Scam Archive’s original text, design, and arrangement are owned by us or our licensors. Third-party logos, trademarks, and brand names remain the property of their respective owners and are referenced for identification/education only. If you believe content infringes your rights, email hello@scamarchive.org with details, links, and proof of ownership.

7) Accuracy, availability, and changes

We aim for accuracy but cannot guarantee that all examples or explanations are complete, current, or error-free. The Service may change, pause, or end without notice.

9) Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

10) Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE AND OUR AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, VOLUNTEERS, AND PARTNERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR REVENUE, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

11) Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless The Scam Archive, Cybersecurity Reach Foundation, and their teams from claims arising out of your use of the Service or violation of these Terms.

12) Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of California, USA, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Where permitted, disputes will be resolved in the courts located in California, USA.

13) Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date above. If changes are significant, we will provide a clear notice.
