Geek Squad Auto Renewal Invoice Email with Phone Number

Victims receive an email that looks like a payment confirmation or invoice for a Geek Squad subscription renewal they never requested. The email claims the subscription will be auto-renewed for several hundred dollars and urges the recipient to call a provided phone number if they have questions or want to cancel. Scammers answering the phone may try to get banking details, remote computer access, or personal information by pretending to help reverse the “charge.”

How this scam works

✓ Do this

  • Close the email and log in to PayPal directly (don’t use links in the message).
  • Verify invoices inside your PayPal account only.
  • Report the email to abuse@paypal.com.

  • Don’t call numbers in unsolicited emails.
  • Don’t install remote-access tools for strangers.
  • Don’t send money, gift cards, or crypto to 'return' funds.
