A fake Booking hotel page asks you to confirm a reservation and verify your card

A page copying Booking's checkout asks you to verify your card to confirm a hotel reservation. A chat posing as Booking support says your bank may send a confirmation code. That code can approve a payment. Do not enter card details, and never pass a code on.

What to do

  • Do not enter card details on the page.

  • Close the page and stop replying to the chat.
  • Check the reservation in the Booking app you already use, or reach the site the way you normally do instead of through a link you were sent.
  • If you entered card details, contact your bank straight away and say you may have used a fake payment page.
  • If you passed on a code from your bank, call your bank now and ask them to stop the payment.
